TUNISIAN CROCHET

improvised with a reg. cro hook and eraser on the end.  I wanted to see if I liked this stitch before I bought an "afghan hook."  This sample done with 14 stitches cast on.  Lace on end above.

TUNISIAN CROCHET SAMPLER~ Thin scarf

My first attempt!  It is easier than you think.  I did this one by casting on 10 stitches.  I used a "multi-colored yarn."

IDEA:  Why not pray while you crochet?!  Hey, that "rhymes."
BARBIE CAPE (SHAWL)
HLF. DBL. CR. WITH A THIN YARN AND THIN SIZE HOOK.   MAKE A SQUARE
SHAPE, ADDING AN EXTRA STITCH ON THE END OF EACH ROW. THIS WILL CREATE AN UNEVEN SQUARE, MAKING IT GREAT FOR A WRAP AROUND SHAWL.  BRING EA. END TOGETHER,  AND STITCH TOGETHER IN THE FRONT.

PILLOW
SQUARES (12X12)

HLF. DBL. CR., LOOSE (2 YARNS TIED TOGETHER) Q HOOK

SEW TOGETHER ALL SIDES, EXCEPT ONE WITH YARN NEEDLE.  INSERT A SMALL PIECE OF MATERIAL ON EACH SIDE OF CROCHET (USE AN OLD T SHIRT CUT UP, IF  YOU WISH) .  STUFF WITH FIBERFILL.  SEW REMAINING SIDE SHUT.

USE THE SQUARES TO MAKE A "PATCHWORK CROCHET BLANKET, TOO."

ALPACA YARNS~
Alpaca fiber comes in over 20 different colors.
Alpaca blends well with other fibers.
Softer than cashmere.
Naturally lustrous.
Stronger and warmer than wool.
Naturally hypoallergenic.
Lanolin free.
Lightweight, but insulating.
Water resistant.
Fire retardant.

I did see some skeins at "A.C. Moore."
A word to my fellow crafty crochet friends~
It isn't just good for the soul; it's also good for the body and mind.
According to research done at the University of Florida's center for Arts in Medicine.  Through their nurse observations, they found that patients who participated in hospital "arts and crafts" programs; drawing, painting, and others required a lot less pain medications and were more relaxed.
It may be a good idea to share your love of crochet with other people.  It is good to pass the time, if you are lonely, or bored.  It is a way to help others by donating what you create to a good cause.

ORANGE AND WHITE SCARF AND MATCHING BAG

See October 6, 2012 for instructions on the scarf.  The bag is a half dbl. crochet large square, folded in half.  Sew it up on the sides with yarn needle.  Let a section at the top to make a fold down "flap."  Attach a button or pin for a "closure," if desired.

SCARF-
