SHAWL~ Wrap up in this to take off a chill.

HALF DBL CROCHET, LOOSE

Add fringes...

THIS WAS MADE WITH A MULTI-COLORED YARN (2 DIFFERENT COLOR PATTERNS).  I DECIDED ON A WIDTH THAT SEEMED LONG ENOUGH TO WRAP AROUND SHOULDERS AND BEYOND.  FIRST COUPLE ROWS WERE SAME WIDTH.  I BEGAN MAKING ROWS A BIT MORE LOOSE OF A STITCH, AND ADDING ON A FEW EXTRA "TURNING CHAINS."  MORE LOOSE OF A SITCH AS I WENT ON , TO CREATE THE TRIANGLE SHAPE WHICH ALLOWS YOU TO REALLY WRAP AROUND.    I USED A Q HOOK AND HALF DBL CROC.

FRINGE SCARF AND  INFINITY LOOP SCARF----
40 MINUTES FOR LONG SCARF, 15 MIN. FOR INFINITY LOOP  (NECK SCARF)  THE YARN IS FROM "RED HEART" BOUTIQUE COLLECTION, SASHAY/BOLA:, RUMBA.
Q HOOK, 1/2 DBL CROC.
YOU WILL USE ALMOST ONE SMALL SKEIN FOR LONG SCARF AND YOU WILL GET  3 NECK SCARVES FROM IT.  USE LOOSE STITCH!

Left side-this is what it looks like pulled apart.  Makes good fringes.

LEFT-NO FRINGE/RIGHT SIDE- FRINGES

SHAWL- BLUE AND WHITE WITH GREEN FRINGES/

The first couple rows I crochet all the way around the piece.  Then I chained a few and began my 1/2 Dbl.Croc. in rows, but they were loose.  I went more loose with the stitches, about ev. 2nd row which gave it the "shawl" shape.  Make it as long as you want.  I cut green pieces of a different yarn to make fringes at the end.
The yarn was a thicker, rope-like yarn.  It was very soft.  I don't like to name specific brands on my blog.   I will say that I do get my yarn from a store like AC Moore or Walmart , for best selection and value.

PRAYER SHAWL~
This was made by a friend from a Ladies Bible study group.
It was told to us that some years ago, ladies would put their "apron" over their heads when they were praying.  This was a signal to the family to leave them alone because they were in prayer.  Some people use prayer shawls the same way.  I have also seen people use "prayer mats."  In the movie "I am Gabriel", he encouraged the ladies of a town to make prayer mats.
Please take time to pray every day.  If you are distracted too much, maybe you need to make yourself a "prayer shawl?"

INFINITY LOOP SCARF (WITH OR WITHOUT FRINGES) 15 min. project.
This soft yarn is great to make a neck scarf to dress up your outfit!  I used a Q Hook and did 1/2 Dbl. Croc. - measure long enough to slid over your head, when you join the two ends together with a double croc. stitch.  After the Foundation row is hooked together at the end, chain 2,  and do one more row.  I did a very loose stitch.  You can add pieces of yarn by pushing them through the stitches and knotting in place.
