SCRAPPY SCARF (CAN BE USED AS A BELT OR DECORATIVE GARLAND)
K HOOK, LOOSE CROCHET, THIN SOFT YARN, LIKE LION BRAND HOMESPUN.
DO FOUNDATION ROW AND 1 MORE ROW DBL. CROCHET OR HALF DBL. CROCHET. I MADE THIS ONE VERY LONG, SO I CAN WRAP IT AROUND MY NECK SEVERAL TIMES. FINISHED SIZE IS: 72 IN. LONG (PREVIOUS SMALLER SCARF WAS 48 IN. LONG FINISHED SIZE)
PLEASE SEE PICTURE BELOW FOR A FINISHED SCARF
YOU WILL NEED SCARP PIECES OF YARN, ALL COLORS. I CUT THEM INTO 10 IN. SIZE STRIPS. USE UP ALL THE LEFTOVERS FROM OTHER PROJECTS! INSERT THESE INTO HOLES ON OUTSIDE OF CROC. PIECE. I DID EVERY OTHER HOLE, ALL THE WAY AROUND ON SIDE. YOU KNOT IT EITHER LIKE A KNOT WHEN YOUR SHOE IS TIED, OR LOOP AROUND FINGER & PULL INTO A KNOT- SEE PICTURES. YOU CAN DO EV. HOLE FOR A FULLER SCARF OR DO BOTH SIDES OF IT. HAVE FUN!

SCRAPPY HAIR TIES
I saw the scarf idea on a video. The person making it used a different method. You can make them any size you want. Add as much scrap yarn as you want. I will show several pictures with instructions.
Hair tie-
Medium size hook, white/tan soft yarn
finished size: 10 in.
Do a loose crochet.
Crochet Foundation row and (1) row DBL crochet.
Insert 5-6 in
. strips of yarn (2-3 in a group)
Scarf with out scraps of yarninto every other croc. hole. Tie the ends together. Wrap around ponytail. This can also be made into a bracelet. Experiment with colors!

Recycle Tip for June:
I like to create original items from yarn. To store my items, I use the plastic bags that the newspaper carrier uses on those rainy days. The rubber bands that are around the papers can be saved to put around the shoeboxes I pack for Operation Christmas Child!
